“David, there you are! Been looking for you, man!” Nick exclaimed the minute he walked into David’s lab.
“Told you I should put a sign on the wall,” David told Greg, who was busy annoying him when Nick barged in.
“Listen, Greg, can you give us a minute? I need to talk to David,” Nick requested.
“Well, now…This isn’t about the case then? Because if it was, you could totally say it in front of me. Oh come on, dish! I wanna hear!” Greg already had a goofy smile on him.
“Sanders, get your spiky blonde hair outta here before I threaten to raid your locker—“David paused for effect “—again,” he finished.
Greg walked out of his lab and his eyes landed on Nick. Nick had this glassy look in his eyes, as though he wasn’t exactly paying attention, like he was just looking, observing David. It scared the heck outta David.
Nick snapped out of his reverie.
“David, did you tell Grissom?”
“What about? The results?”
“No, no, about us!”
“What?! No! What makes you think I would blurt out my personal life to my boss, anyway?” David retorted, defending himself against his lover.
“No, it’s not that. It’s just…he asked if we were together when I was at the crime scene and—“
“What’d you say?”
“I said...no. And then he gave me that look we talked about, y’know, the one that’s like as if he’s looking at one of his bugs...It was creepy,”
“And what made you think I told him?”
“You’re such a jackass sometimes, Stokes,”
And he walked out of his lab, going for his break, leaving Nick standing alone and confused.
